Dave Herman is a Certified Specialist of Spirits and a native New Yorker. After beginning his career in the music industry he decided to focus on his first love: food and drink. He began working with New York City’s premiere craft beer distributor and then moved on to Spuyten Duyvil, the world-famous craft beer bar in Brooklyn. In 2008 he partnered to open the well-loved restaurant Porchetta in the East Village. Since selling his share of the restaurant, Dave has been committed to using his connoisseurship of fine alcoholic beverages and food to educate people on the best-made drinks and most delicious combinations available.
As one of the partners in Great Big Food Events, Dave is working to bring the best beverages and food available in NYC together in larger format events that highlight quality without sacrificing the exciting atmosphere of bigger festivals that all too often fall short on delivering a truly delicious experience.
Notably, Dave built the spirits and wine program at Mouth.com, curating a fun and delectable selection of truly small batch and hand-produced craft drinks made by some of the most dedicated craft distillers, vintners and cider-makers in the USA. Dave was also a regular instructor at The 92nd Street Y, and has had classes featured at The Institute of Culinary Education and other venues around New York City. He has created a variety of classes and pairings for events including corporate gatherings, charity fund raisers, and parties at private residences.
